It is possible to stream your own music/video from your computer into Second Life, however due to upload bandwidth restrictions on most home internet connections most people opt to pay for someone to host their stream for them and then simply stream their content to that.
What will I need?
Depending on what you want to do, the requirements are really quite simple a reasonably modern pc with a reasonable sound card or a Mac for starters. If you will want to use your voice, a microphone and if you are a musician, ideally some form of small mixing desk/audio processor. You will also need some software that can capture your audio and send it out to the SHOUTcast server where it will be distributed to your audience. There are a number of solutions to achieve audio broadcasting, this guide covers the most popular solutions and will walk you through setting them up. If you rent a stream with us we will happily walk you through this process and be on hand to provide any further help and advice you may need.
streams
